Security and Privacy are currently the highest priorities at Microsoft. Microsoft Official Clinics and Courses that solve your core security needs are currently being promoted and discounted. These three basic offerings are for everyone who needs to provide better information security and for those who want to become MCSEs or MCSAs with a Security specialization.

  • Course 2801, Microsoft Security Guidance Training I:  This one-day instructor-led clinic gives you introductory knowledge and skills which lead you to a secure computing environment. The clinic also provides you with prescriptive guidance on security update management and best practices for implementing security on Microsoft Windows� server and client computers.
  • Course 2802, Microsoft Security Guidance Training II:  This one-day instructor-led clinic builds on existing knowledge of server and client security and gives you the knowledge and skills to apply best known practices to implement perimeter and network defenses and to fortify security for applications and Microsoft Windows Server System� components. You also get prescriptive guidance on tuning security and practical strategies for implementing secure best practices across a business environment.
  • Hands-On Lab 2811, Applying Microsoft Security Guidance:  In this one-day, instructor-led hands-on lab, you work through practical and real-world problems.  This beneficial problem-solving work directly helps you to manage security in a Microsoft� Windows� network.
  • Course 2810, Fundamentals of Network Security:  This four-day instructor-led course gives you the fundamental knowledge and skills to support network security within an organization. Learn to identify security threats and vulnerabilities, and help respond to and recover from security incidents. This course prepares you for the industry standard CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Course 2820, Implementing and Administering Security in a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network:  This five-day instructor-led course prepares you to implement and administer a wide range of security services on Windows� 2000-based networks, from hotfix deployments to VPNs.
  • Course 2823, Implementing and Administering Security in a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network:  This five-day instructor-led course focuses on Microsoft Windows Server� 2003 based infrastructure solutions, with client content when appropriate. The course gives you functional skills in planning and implementing infrastructure security, and is packed with best practices in a broad range of security topics of critical importance to businesses today.  This course is part of the Security Portfolio and will act as the primary entry point for IT Professionals at the implementation level. Course MS-2810 will provide an entry point for students to broaden their awareness of security issues. Students will be encouraged to enhance their security design skills by attending Course MS-2830.
  • Course 2830, Designing Security for Microsoft Networks:  Grow the knowledge and skills to design a secure network infrastructure for your business. In this three-day class, you learn how to assemble the design team, model the threats, and analyze the security risks to meet business requirements for securing computers in a networked environment. Be prepared to take on the responsibility and rewards that these skills give you when faced with designing or adapting your organization's network security.

The above four courses, and optionally Course 2150 below, are the courses that provide you with most of what you will need to pass exams for the Microsoft Certified System Engineer: Security and for the Microsoft Certified System Administrator: Security certifications, two of the newest and hottest certifications in the IT Security industry today.

For the Windows 2000 Network Security Designer

Course 2150, Designing a Security-Enhanced Microsoft Windows 2000 Network: Using Microsoft Windows 2000 technologies throughout this 5-day course, gain the knowledge and skills you need to design a security framework for networks of all sizes. Learn to plan a Windows 2000 administrative structure and design a strategy for securing local resources accessed by remote users. This course directly prepares you for Exam 70-220, Designing Security for a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network, and helps you prepare for Exam 70-214, Implementing and Administering Security in a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network.

For the Firewall Administrator

Course 2159, Deploying and Managing Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000:  Learn to deploy and manage Microsoft ISA Server 2000 in an enterprise environment during this 3-day course. By the end of this course, you will have the skills to configure ISA Server and monitor ISA Server activities. This course also prepares you for Exam 70-227, which counts toward both MCSA and MCSE: Security certifications.

For the Security Administrator of a Public Key Infrastructure

Course 2821, Designing and Managing a Windows Public Key Infrastructure:  This four-day course gives you the knowledge and skills to design, deploy, and manage a public key infrastructure (PKI) to support applications that require distributed security. You get hands-on experience implementing solutions to secure PKI-enabled applications and services, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Exchange Server, Internet Information Server, Outlook, and remote access services.

Security Courses for the Developer

Clinic 2806, Microsoft Security Guidance Training for Developers:  This one-day instructor-led clinic provides students with knowledge and skills essential for the creation of applications with enhanced security. Students will learn about the need for implementing security at every stage of the development process and best practices for applying security principles. Students will also learn how to use established threat modeling methodologies and tools with other best practices to minimize vulnerabilities and limit damage from attacks. Finally, students will learn how to implement security features to enhance security for Web applications and Web services that are built by using Microsoft ASP.NET.

Course 2300, Developing Security-Enhanced Web Applications: In this three-day course, you learn and practice security-enhanced coding techniques to build secure Web applications.  You learn to identify Web application security vulnerabilities and to understand the trade-offs between functionality and performance when choosing the appropriate security mechanisms for your Web applications. This course is intended for web developers and solution architects.

Course 2350, Developing and Deploying Secure Microsoft .NET Framework Applications:  Learn to develop and deploy Microsoft .NET-compatible applications by using private or shared assemblies.  This course provides side-by-side coding examples and activities written in both Microsoft Visual Basic .NET and Microsoft Visual C#. In this 3-day course, you will cover topics such as MSI deployment using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET deployment projects, and .NET role-based security.
