These classes are intended to provide a strong foundation for any project manager.
Foundation
Principles of Project Management Workshop – The classic techniques
to plan and control a project. Broad in scope, it touches on nearly all PMBoK
topics.
Leading High Performance Teams – The 9 components of a high
performance team. Leaders understand how to achieve these factors in their project
teams. (2 days)
Mastering Microsoft Project – Project managers are more likely
to apply the principles of project management when they have a tool to help
them. (2 days)
Advanced
Project Risk Management – A unique approach to teaching this
topic. We teach the classic risk management process and also add the fundamentals
of business finance so that a project manager understands the project’s
business case (a.k.a. proposal or cost/benefit analysis). (2 days)
Project Management Simulation – Experiential learning that integrates
the full project management tool set. (2 days)
Examples of Custom Classes
Combine the Principles of Project Management with Microsoft Project training.
This is the most efficient way to learn both the principles and tools of project
management. Intact teams attending this workshop leave with their MS Project
plan substantially begun. (3-4 days)
Introduction to Project Management using the Simulation format. We
extend the simulation class to 3 days and combine it with topics from Principles
of Project Management. People who are new to project management gain a rapid,
intense learning experience. (3 days)
Executive View of Project Management. Custom content for special audiences.
Typically contains tips for managers who lead a project-driven organization.
(4-8 hours)
Developing a Project Charter. This course was developed for the project
managers and customer account managers of an IT organization to teach them to
use their own project launch process.
Problem to Plan. Projects start as problems or opportunities. This
course provides a step-by-step analysis model for understanding a problem, developing
business requirements for solving the problem, and assembling a project proposal
to implement a solution.
Corporate Leadership Development Program modules. These four programs
have been customized to fit within week-long conferences where 200-450 people
attend a variety of classes. All use case studies to challenge the participant
to apply course topics during class.
- Project Risk Management – The classic risk management process (4 hours)
- Stakeholder Management – A three step process for identifying stakeholders,
analyzing their needs, and planning to keep them satisfied. (4 hours)
- Earned Value Management – The case study shows how EVMS enables a
program manager to track nine related projects. (4 hours)
- Team Dynamics – Techniques for better communication and team problem
solving. (4 hours)
- Principles of Project Planning – An introduction into the basics of
building a project plan. (8 hours)
PMBoK Correlation
The Project Management Institute has endorsed the Fast Forward MBA in Project
Management, by Eric Verzuh, as a study guide for the Certified Associate Project
Manager exam. This is the only non-PMI published book included in the recommended
study kit for the CAPM exam. This endorsement demonstrates that Versatile courseware
is in alignment with the PMBoK. The table below demonstrates how our standard
